After years of panda conservation efforts lead by WWF-China, wild panda numbers are finally rebounding after years of decline. Currently, there are 1,864 giant panda in the wild. Kudos to WWF.
Giant Pandas in the wild live in three provinces in China: Sichuan, Shaanxi , and Gansu. China has established 67 Nature Reserves to promote panda conservation. As the province with around 80% of nature reserve areas, Sichuan initiated a Giant Panda National Park pilot program in 2017 to consolidate panda conservation resources and further enhance panda conservation efforts.
